Hi, I’m Stella, a Process-Based Therapist
My journey into understanding the human mind began with words—studying English and German literature in Germany (MA, MEd). But after years in education, I wanted to understand the science behind our thoughts, feelings and behaviours: Can we rewrite life’s difficult stories instead of just reading them? This led me to psychology (BSc Hons) and specialized training in Process-Based Therapy (PBT), CBT, and DBT.
PBT is different. It’s not about labeling you or following rigid scripts—it’s a flexible, science-backed approach that helps you:
Spot unhelpful patterns (like overthinking or avoidance)
Develop tailored tools to respond differently
Create lasting change and better outcomes
As a member of the Moray Wellbeing Hub, I blend literary insight with clinical expertise to help you adapt, not just cope. Whether online or in-person in Moray, let’s change your story together.
PBT is a modern approach that combines effective strategies from therapies like CBT and ACT to help you navigate challenges in a way that fits your unique mind. Rather than focusing solely on diagnoses, PBT identifies the specific thought patterns, emotional habits, and behaviors that keep you feeling stuck—whether that's anxiety, stress, or life transitions.
The therapy works by first uncovering your personal patterns, like avoidance or rumination, then teaching you practical skills to respond differently. You might learn mindfulness techniques to create space from overwhelming thoughts, or experiment with new behaviors aligned with what matters most to you. Many people notice meaningful changes within a few months, though deeper work may take longer.
What makes PBT special is its flexibility—it adapts to your needs rather than asking you to fit a predetermined mold. It's particularly helpful for those who've tried traditional therapies and want a more personalized approach, or anyone seeking lasting change rather than quick fixes. The goal isn't just symptom relief, but developing lasting psychological flexibility to handle life's ups and downs.
